The weekend wrapped up last night with an outstanding display of physie precision and expressive dance performance. The Harald Bjelke-Petersen Cup (first presented in 1948) was awarded for overall best Open Senior team to Mt Ousley and the Robert Rae Turner cup (for the runners up) to the Figtree club. Both winning teams are from the Wollongong zone which somehow seems to produce more senior champions per capita than any other area of Australia!
BJP’s new photographer, Winkipop Media, was snapping away all weekend with action shots on the competition floor as well as portrait photos. So if you competed on the weekend check out the gallery at www.winkipopmedia.photostockplus.com/ which should all be posted over the next few days.
Also, if you want to order old physie photos going back to 2006, go to www.grundigphotography.com.au and make a note of the reference numbers of any photos you want to order. These should be available for order soon but you will need to know the photo number to be able to order. The Grundig website will close in a month so visit now and write down your numbers.
Finally, here are some video clips from the Open Senior presentations…

This morning the 5-6 years couldn’t look much cuter as they brave the big arena to perform for the audience (and some of them are only 4 years old!!). Here’s some video clips and backstage pics…

It’s teams time again and the Championship Grade junior teams are underway today. After months of training, the girls’ hard work is paying off… with the 7-8 year girls showing just how much focus and self-discipline they have and what great little dancers they are. It’s no small feat performing in the huge arena at Sydney Olympic Park in front of an audience of several hundred but these girls do it with confidence. The 7-8 year Cup winners were from the

My life long best friend got married yesterday… I met her at my first ever physie class at the tender age of 9 and even though she hasn’t done Physie in years we are still bff’s. Physie is responsible for my life’s greatest friendship. When I put her veil on yesterday all I could see was us as kids running around in leos and wondered where the time has gone! Thank you Physie – if it wasn’t for you I wouldn’t have this amazing woman in my life

There can only be one winner but there will always be many friendships. The Ladies National Finals are being held tonight at the Sydney Olympic Park Sports Centre. Come along and see the best of the best. Tickets at the door are $12 and for children under 14 are free.
The talent of the ladies will amaze you but even more astounding will be the scene backstage, where ladies who’ve competed against each other for many years (sometimes decades) will chat like old friends, wish each other good luck and congratulate
